BY IMAGINING USAGE FROM THE CONSUMER PERSPECTIVE, THE MOST INTUITIVE AND NATURAL CONSUMER EXPERIENCE WAS CONSTRUCTED
The physical prototype was to test the innovative form of the design, i.e. the effectiveness of the vertical pour system (the curved bottom edge and ‘nose’ over the spout); ergonomics; communication and feedback on top of the overall ease of use.
Its limitations were that it was unable to boil water hence the feedback illuminations were separate and unrelated to temperature. In addition the app did not receive water temperature data.
This prototype was developed from the production-level CAD initially produced. Internal components were removed, joining methods changed for screws and threaded inserts (rather than push and interference fits), in turn increasing boss diameters; ribs and wall thicknesses increased to make allowance for the brittleness of RP and effects of sanding down for spraying.
